But what the Shar-Pei is to me, the pet sitter; is a sturdy, stubborn and cautious dog. I love them, once they get to know you, they do warm up, it takes awhile, but it does happen. Zoe always reminded me of a big seal. The biggest challenge and adventure were our walks. When I walked her; oops, I mean, when she walked me, it was always a wild ride. You see, Zoe is deaf, and a bit blind and very stubborn. But I didn't mind it, I can respect an old gal who was set in her ways. Zoe, after a few pet sittings assignments actually started giving me small love acknowledgments. First there were licks on my hands, then there was the leaning of her head on my lap. I was always filled with joy at every show of affection. She was on a regimented medication schedule, and took her medication easily, always loved her treats and enjoyed long long naps. I took care of her and her sister Elaine off and on for a couple of years. I have really grown to respect and love these beautiful dog's. It has been over a year since my client has moved to Chicago, and I do miss Zoe, but was lucky enough to visit her and her sister a few month's ago. They remembered me right away, and I was ecstatic. I miss you Zoe and Elaine, but I will always love you gals.
