Pugs! Aren't they they the cutest?

Tessie the pug! She snorts, and whistles, and wobbles her way to my heart. Tessie and I have been friends for several years now. She lives with Evie and Coogie, the only feline in the house. Tessie loves her ears rubbed, and loves her treats. She takes daily medication, needs coaxing to walk on a leash, and stares at me with a questioning look; as if to say, "lady I aint walking", she still has all the virtues of a perfect dog. But, in my world, all creatures are perfect. Tessie, Evie and Coogie, you have taught me patience and unconditional love. I laugh daily with this trio of pet's.

Zoe the Shar Pie!

"The ancestry of the Shar-Pei is uncertain. Pictures on pottery suggest the breed had existed even as far back as 206 BC. It may be a descendant of the Chow Chow, however, the only clear link between the two breeds is the purple tongue. The name "Shar-Pei" means sandy coat." But what the Shar-Pei is to me, the pet sitter; is a sturdy, stubborn and cautious dog. I love them, once they get to know you, they do warm up, it takes awhile, but it does happen. Zoe always reminded me of a big seal. The biggest challenge and adventure were our walks. When I walked her; oops, I mean, when she walked me, it was always a wild ride. You see, Zoe is deaf, and a bit blind and very stubborn. But I didn't mind it, I can respect an old gal who was set in her ways. Zoe, after a few pet sittings assignments actually started giving me small love acknowledgments. First there were licks on my hands, then there was the leaning of her head on my lap. I was always filled with joy at every show of affection. She was on a regimented medication schedule, and took her medication easily, always loved her treats and enjoyed long long naps. I took care of her and her sister Elaine off and on for a couple of years. I have really grown to respect and love these beautiful dog's. It has been over a year since my client has moved to Chicago, and I do miss Zoe, but was lucky enough to visit her and her sister a few month's ago. They remembered me right away, and I was ecstatic. I miss you Zoe and Elaine, but I will always love you gals.

The Love Of A Dog

Wanted to share this inspirational and touching story that was sent to me.

Lucky Dog.......

Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and you may even decide you need one!

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.'

Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing.

Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite toys Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box..

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease....in fact; she was just sure it was fatal.

She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him! The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.

Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap.

Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed.

When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body f felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life.
He had covered her with his love.
Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every day. It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.

Valentines Decision : Pet or Partner?

Rather than spending Valentine's Day with their partner, one-fifth of adults would prefer to be with their pet, according to a joint poll by Reuters/Ipsos.

The survey of 24,000 people in 23 countries found 21 percent of adults would rather spend February 14th with their pet than their spouse, although the French were least likely to choose a furry friend over a human, with only 10 percent taking that option.

But the survey found that age and income were more of a determining factor than nationality when it came to romance, with younger, less affluent people more likely to choose their pet as their Valentine's Day companion.
